Piano

So the picture is not the best but it will suffice. Last year for my 24Th birthday I got a piano. Since moving into my grandpa's house we finally had room to put one, so we got one. I was super excited. I looked at all different kind of pianos. New ones, used ones, baby grands, uprights, full grands. But none of them had the sound that I wanted until I found this one. I know this one is not the most fabulous looking piano out there but the sound is amazing! Ha ha it is like music to my ears. Just kidding, but it seriously does sound just like I wanted. Even out of tune. And I didn't pay a fortune for it. Phew.

I however, wanted a black piano and this one originally came brown. So I naively thought that we could refinish it. I WAS WRONG. Take my advice, DO NOT ever try to refinish a piano. And Brighton will agree with me. After taking the whole thing apart, taping the keys, and 10 weekends later I have the piano I have today.

It doesn't look fabulous but at least I don't feel bad or stressed about accidentally nicking it or dropping all of my piano books on it. I feel like it is my piano because I (aka Brighton) spent many hours painting it.

And for my birthday this year my mom got my piano tuned. They lady who tuned it said it has a rich sound and will hold its sound very well. Also, she said the piano should last me for a very long time and she actually offered to buy it. I couldn't tell if she was serious or not but I told her no.

So as for now here is my new piano, with a new fresh coat of paint, and newly tuned!

(On a side note, we are working on painting the front room where the piano is located and redecorating. Those posts to come.)

I told myself that I had to update all of my blog before school began and I finally happy to say that after this post I will be all caught up. Phew because school starts tomorrow! Ah! Oh well, that is another thought for another time.

For FHE a group from my ward went bowling. I have not been bowling for awhile and it was fun. I am pretty sure my score was awful but that is why I don't have a picture of it. :) I don't think those bowling classes in junior high payed off but that isn't the point. Right?

One Red Neck Night

It's a miracle, Brighton cut his beard! Sigh, now I can shave my legs. Kidding, that would be nasty! My family was having family pictures and I told Brighton he could not have a beard in those pictures. I don't care if he has a beard, just not in pictures. So we had a little fun trimming off his beard.

Clean shaven is still my favorite look. Although picture #2 or picture #3 come in close 2nd.

25th Birthday

I can't believe I am 25! When I was younger and thinking about where I would be at twenty five I imagined life being totally different. I imagined living back east, working in politics, and not married. But instead I am married, have a degree in Exercise and Sport Science, and still living in Utah. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE where I am at now, it is just surprising how little life does not turn out how you had planned. And on another good note, I don't feel any different then when I was 24. It is is just weird to think I am 25.

Well onto more exciting things. For my birthday I got up, went shopping, bought some clothes and jewelery, and then I got to go to the Tim McGraw concert! It was awesome. I have always wanted to go to one of his concerts and since this year his concert fell on my birthday...I went!

I went with some of my sisters, my best friend, Jen, and Brighton. Brighton was such a good sport to be the only guy there. I think deep down inside he enjoys it.


All of us melting in the sun. Water there was $3.00! It was insane! I spent more money on food than I did on tickets.

This couple was standing up during the opening show and the guy would sit there and grab the girls butt. They were the only people standing up and they were totally drunk. It was hilarious. After Love and Theft and Lady Antebellum they left and we never saw them again.

Tim McGraw! I enjoyed his performance better than I thought I was going to. I don't really like any of his new stuff but the majority of his concert was his old stuff which is ssssssooooooo good. I know it isn't the best picture but you could still see him in the screen. :)

July 24th

For July 24th I did the annual Deseret News 10k. And I will say if it had not been for my brother and sister in-law I would not have run it. I have been in a running rut and haven't really run much. So if they had not asked me to sign us all up, I would have sat home and regretted not running. I have now run it for 4 years straight and hope (fingers crossed) to keep the tradition going. This race is the reason Brighton and I went on a 2nd date. But that is a story for another time.

However, next year I hope to train for it. I ran this one cold turkey which was fine but I am surprised how sore my legs can get after only three miles running down hill. And so next year, I will train and hopefully score a new PR. That is easy to say right now right?

I didn't get any pictures because I left my camera at my moms and I didn't think to use my cell phone until after I had gotten home. But I do know five people who can vouch for me. But maybe it is a good thing I did not get any pictures because I had only gotten 5 hours of sleep the night before. Due to fireworks in Bountiful.

Later that night we went over to my mom's for dinner and homemade ice cream (my FAVORITE) and then went to the Real Soccer game. My brother and sister in-law were able to get us tickets for the game and it was a blast! I don't know how much of the game I watched but I sure did enjoy playing with my nieces and nephews.

July 23rd

Every year on July 23rd, up at Bountiful, they have the best fireworks. I have been going up there since I was little because the fireworks were right in my Aunt's backyard. She has since moved but we still meet my cousins up there every year. I forgot my camera this year so all of the pictures are off of my phone. Not the best but still fun!

Demolition Derby

For starters I am way behind on my blogging and have four loads of laundry screaming my name. What have I done with my day!!!
Onto other things, for the first time ever this summer I went to a demolition derby and I would highly recommend going to one. It is super white trashy and yet extremely fun all at the same time. You go and watch people crash cars into each other and you cheer every time you do it! The girl in front of me said, "This is probably like watching the gladiators in the Colosseum." Scary thought.

The best crash of the whole night happened right in front of us! It was cool!

I loved the fire coming out of the cars.

Brighton caught a football when they were throwing footballs out during "intermission".

If you have never been to a demolition derby, go. I am a believer.
